Moving Mountains

Masters Athletics

This can be a championships with world class fields, provided all the athletes entered actually turn up. This was a problem this year, and small fields for several events fitted badly into a very drawn-out timetable for the day. I raced, though on the back of very little speed work, and it showed.

A brilliant little trip. Ghent will host the European Masters Indoors in a year’s time, and the trip gave us a chance to race in the excellent indoor stadium, suss out hotels etc—oh and to take part in a really good championships as well. Two world age group records that day, though none from the 60 or so GB athletes there.

The Brits go to the Belgian Masters, Ghent, 13 March 2010

I was ill, and unable to compete myself. I found I was the only photographer there on the Saturday (so you won’t get any photos anywhere else, folks!), which made for a day that was every bit as hard as racing. A great weekend, which saw three world age group records, and any number of National age group records set.

A new venue, one day of great weather, and two days of strong headwinds! For myself, a successful return to competition with a bronze medal, after a long period of illness, injury and recuperation. The galleries here are but a selection of the total number of photos I took over the weekend. It was busy!

Masters Inter-Area Match, Solihull,

Sunday 8 August 2010 2010

Another in my succession of bad days. Hurt my right foot in the 100m, and ended the day strapped up and limping. Nice chance to shoot some candid portraits, rather than all action shots. Lots of medley relay change-over pictures too.

My pictures are here
