The World Masters Athletics Championships 2007 Riccione, Italy, 4 to 15 September |

I had a great time in Riccione. It was hard work, as I raced on four of the days, and on some others I was on my feet for up to 12 hours taking photographs. I’m pleased to say that I came away with a gold medal from the M50 relay, and a personal best 200 metres time. You can read more on my blog page. My race commitments, and the fact that the championships were spread over three stadiums linked by erratic and overcrowded buses, account for the gaps in my photographic coverage of the championships. No one person could have covered everything! I came home with more than 4,000 photos, and have posted a representative sample here on the web site.

Tuesday 4 September
The day of the big storm! Well done decathletes and heptathletes!

After more storms overnight, the multi-eventers battled on.

First round for the 100m sprinters, plus some M35 long jump.

100m semis and finals, and the first appearance of the true senior citizens of our sport. Also M70/65 5,000m.

First rounds for the 200m, and the 800m finals at Misano in the evening.

Monday 10 September
The strongest, fastest and oldest athletes today.

Wednesday 12 September
A morning of 400m heats at Misano and an afternoon of hurdles qualifiers at Riccione.
